Sign the Petition for the Proposed Town of North Tahoe

Your signature is the next step to local control.

You live here. You know what our region needs. By signing, you help take the next step towards putting incorporation on the ballot so that you and your friends and neighbors can decide our future.

Why your signature matters

Right now, people outside Tahoe make choices about your roads, snow removal, housing, and services. Signing gives you the chance to vote on forming a local town council and bring decision-making home.

In order to move forward with the effort to investigate incorporating a new Town of North Lake Tahoe, state law requires that we first collect signatures from registered voters who live within the proposed town boundaries. This is why we are launching a formal petition drive. By law, signatures must be given in person—they cannot be collected online or digitally—so it truly depends on neighbors reaching out to neighbors. The faster we gather enough verified signatures, the sooner we can file our application with LAFCO (the Local Agency Formation Commission) and take this historic step toward local decision-making. Every signature counts, and every day matters.

Note: Signing the petition is not your vote on incorporation. It lets the community decide the question in an election.

Want to do more?

We need local leaders to help gather signatures. If you can host a Petition Party with your neighbors and friends, you can make a huge impact.

If you’re a registered voter within this boundary, your signature is needed!

The petition can only be signed by registered voters who live within the proposed town boundaries, because state law requires that the decision to incorporate come directly from the people who would make up the new town.

This boundary defines who is eligible to sign, and only these signatures will count toward the legal requirement for incorporation. If you’re registered at an address inside this area, your signature is essential to moving the process forward.
